Watch the neighbourhood be transformed into musical walkways showcasing emerging talents in Malay music, visual and performing arts. Be entertained by various genres of music – from the traditional keroncong, gamelan and classical music to the more modern and contemporary emo-rock, fusion, folk and world music, contemporary Malay dance choreography and many more!

OrkeStar Trio embodies the spirit of adventure in exploring the versatility and context of music in the Malay Archipelago in the modern world. Made up of three young artistes with unique dispositions, the Trio believes in honouring their traditional influences while pushing towards forming a new spectrum of sound. Their composition features a mash-up of various musical styles, reflecting the diversity of identities and interests among them.
As soloists or a group, these musicians have represented Singapore on numerous local and international platforms. These include performances in countries such as Indonesia, Japan, Cambodia, China, Greece, Italy and Turkey. This musical outfit possesses a strong desire to break the barriers between musical genres and share their voice to inspire.
Zubir Abdullah is a professional music composer, singer, songwriter and pro- ducer whose music career began in 1980. Although a multi-instrumentalist, Zubir’s instrument of specialty the Arabic guitar oud or gambus. He has performed at festivals from Europe to Asia, playing on the stages of WOMAD to intimate setting of a recital studio. Over 40 cities in the world have
had the pleasure of seeing Zubir perform.

Emas is an acronym for Evolusi Muzik Anak Singapura (Evolution of Singapore Malay Music). This music collective features a refreshing array of independent musicians and bands. The collective includes under its awing genre transcending bands and fusion acts. The performers under the EMAS Beats are Antologi, Audionauts, Dian, Diorama, Farah Ain, Klutz, Kraton, Rancour, Revolusi, Tengku Nur Lela, Zaibaktian, Kaizan Crew. Look Out for the gamelan and rock fusion!

Art Fazil started writing songs at the age of 13 and by the age of 18 he was penning tracks the superstars of Malay music of the day such as Ramli Sarip and Ella. Art Fazil moved to London to expand his musical horizons.
Amira, burst into the scene when she was one of the finalists for Singapore Idol, Season 3 (2009). While acknowledging her roots in the Malay music, she is making a name for herself in the funk and R & B genres. She will be giving her own contemporary spin to one of her father’s traditional songs, during the concert. See her in ‘Inspiration Aspiration’ concert.

Norisham Osman is adept at both traditional and contemporary Malay dance. He unintentional foray into Malay dance while in secondary school soon become a passion that blossomed under the guidance of prolific Malay dance choreographer and Singapore’s Young Artist Award winner, Osman Hamid. Norisham pursued his interest in the arts and recently graduated with a Diploma in Arts Management from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts.
Riduan Zalani is one of our promising musical talents. Since winning the Goh Chok Tong Youth Promise Award in 2006, he has been mesmerising audiences all over the world with his deft fingerworks on the pandeiro (a Brazilian hand frame drum) and various other types of percussion instruments. As a member of the percussion group Wicked Aura Batucada he has appeared on MTV as well as the stages of WOMAD (World Music and Dance) Festivals. The former member of the Singapore Malay Orchestra is also versatile in the rhythms of the Malay Archipelago, Africa, South America and the Middle East. He is a regular feature at local and international music festivals. His recent projects include a National Arts Council supported production in Spain, Esplanade’s Mosaic Music Festival Music Maker 2011, Malay Music Festival in University of Hawaii, Wicked Aura Batucada and Orke Star Trio.
Riduan is one of the creative forces behind the Inspiring Aspirations Concert. He will also be performing with Orke Star Trio for Temasya Kampong Gelam 2011
